Jackie Duncan

Jackie's love for horses started at an early age when she was gifted horse riding lessons for her 6th birthday. By nine, she had her own pony, Mariah. As her passion for horses grew, Jackie could be found catch riding anything she could get her hands on, usually trying to turn western pleasure or reining horses into something she could take over fences. In 2007, Jackie found the sport of dressage. Quickly realizing she had found her niche, Jackie shifted her focus, solely training and competing in dressage. Jackie takes pride in creating her own competition horses; currently a USDF Bronze Medal holder, Jackie is training her current mounts to earn her Silver Medal. Jackie believes that excellent training, management, feeding, footing and care are the ingredients that optimize the horse’s ability to perform. She regularly participates in clinics and rides with top trainers including Sabine Schut-Kery, Christine Traurig, Tom Valter, and Guenter Seidel.

In an effort to widen her knowledge in the sport of dressage, Jackie graduated from the USDF L Program in 2015 and regularly judges schooling shows. Completing the L Program has given Jackie a unique and valuable outlook on training a horse and rider in a way that creates success in the show ring.

As Vice President of the Ventura County Chapter of CDS, Jackie is committed to enriching the sport of dressage and fostering an interest among horsemen in the community. Together with her fellow board members, the Ventura County Chapter hosts clinics, schooling shows, and many educational events.
